JOBSHADOW
A day with the Receptionist
The day with the receptionist was great we had a great time together it was a fun experience for me. What we did was we sat behind a huge desk and waited so the phone can ring. She would put information in the computer and then would answer more phone calls. I did my Job shadow on a receptionist on 9/9/2016. I chose this because I knew a little bit about this job and it was recommended to me by a family member. We did it in visalia at an OD.
First of all, when I arrived I walked into the two front doors and she was standing at the front desk. I walked up and asked for Megan Wallace and she said “that's me” and I said ohh nice. Then she asked me about what I did and what I want to be when I grow up. We sat down at here desk and I saw a lot of difficult things that she was doing and I couldn’t keep up. She told me all the things that she did throughout the day. She introduced me to some of the people that worked there with her but I couldn't keep up with all of the names that she was saying.
Then, she started showing me how to work the systems and those things where hard to do but I got through it. Next we had a lunch break and that's when I started asking her lots of questions about her job and what was needed to get to this type of position. She gave me lots of good answers and I wrote them down how they where coming out of her mouth. Then when lunchtime was over we went back behind the desk and work for a long time. I got to meet new people and It was awesome feeling to me. Their was only like one hour left and in that hour we got know each other and it was a good experience for me.
This job was great but I didn't like it that much. It was kind of boring and I wanted to go home because it was a long time to be in their for like 2-3 hour sitting behind a desk. What I liked about it was that I got to meet new people and see what receptionist do all day. I learned that working is hard and you have to have lots of patience and be able to be calm when people are being rude over the phone.
The job was good but I don't think that I would want to be someone like this. My reason for this answer is because I don't have patience and I would get mad back at the people that are yelling at me but I know that I can do this but I wouldn't want to.
In conclusion, this was a great experience for me and I would love to keep doing more job shadows like this one because they where nice to do. I loved my day being a receptionist.
